Collection: Chili pepper

We specialize in peppercorns, but we do not disdain the chili pepper. For example, you will find the pure chili pepper from the French Basque Country with us. Since 2016, we have been selling the Piment d'Espelette from Aïnhoa, a town on the Spanish-French border. This Espelette is a coarsely ground  'powder' harvested by hand, processed into powder (Piment d'Espelette), into puree and a tasty jelly, completely in line with the culinary traditions of the French Basque Country.

Chili pepper is also included in some of our blends: the Japanese togarashi chili in Shichimi, the Indian teja pepper in Punjabi masala, the kashmiri chili in Kashmiri masala, the smoked jalapeño chili in our Adobo chipotl  and Aleppo chili (pul biber) in Baharat.

The latest chili addition to our range is the to notice or merquén, the diplomatic, read strategic response of the Chilean Mapuche to the violent conquest of their country by the conquistadors, the combination of their goat horn chili and the coriander and cumin brought from Europe. One of the classic examples of the 'Columbian exchange' of products and customs from the Old and New World.
